Awesome! My “Judith” hoodie pattern was published on Magknits last Friday!
I finished it in December, and now I can finally archive it with a post.

Hi to everyone who stopped by from Magknits, and also hi to Becca at Knitters’ Playground. Thanks for visiting. Sorry that you can’t really see the hood in the pictures– I swear, it’s pretty standard. Nothing scary.

The reason this sweater is named “Judith” is that it was named after my mom. Around the time I was ready to cast on a sweater for her, I found out that she had gotten restless in her career teaching high school science. I wanted to make her a sweater that would be comfortable but stylish for whatever her new career will be. To me, a refined hoodie has a lot of versatility. (Or maybe that’s the years of grad school talking.)
Initially, it was a pain working with the Summer Tweed because the gauge kept expanding. I mean, I swear I could put a swatch down on the sofa for half an hour and it would grow an inch. I had to design this sweater to channel the swatch sprawl into length. It actually looks pretty awesome after you’ve worn it for half an hour, because it elongates in a nice fitted way. It inexplicably fit me, my mom, and my sister perfectly. This should be mathematically impossible.
So yeah, Judy has the original “Judith” now, and I’m kinda wishing I’d named this sweater “Stephanie” and was typing this entry from within its tweedy embrace. Guess I’ll have to scare up the yarn to make another.
*NOTE* My wordpress interface suggests that this is my 100th post. That doesn’t seem right. But in the event that it is– yay blog milestone!

Great sweater! I love the shape and look. And having been a grad student for 6 years myself, I certainly understand the need for comfy yet nice looking clothes. I usually can achieve the former, but not the latter! Congrats!
